+IF ONLY THEY WERE ACTUAL WOMEN+

Excuse me, but I think I’m a bit late with this band, but on the other hand, its great as well, seeing as I have a great ride in front of me still, apparently.
Women (the band) started playing on my iTunes about 14:15 this afternoon and this song (Black Rice) blew me away second by second. That sound, that vocal melody. It would be safe to say that this band is truely creative in their sound, vibe, style and yet utterly simplistic in their appearance. It saddens me to know that they broke up on 29 October 2010, for it automatically means that I, as South-African, wil NEEEEEEVVVVVVEEEEERRRRRRR see them live… EVER!!
The vocalist (Patrick Flegel) portrays a brilliant surfing voice. Hazey as ever. Dreamy… I imagine this track to be featured on something like a Dane Reynolds feature, or maybe an Adidas Originals skate clip.
This will probably be playing on my ipod everyday of this week… That’s right, I’m a song killer sometimes okay.
Check out their self-titled album, Women - Women, and if you use bittorrent… here ya go… http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/5284097/Women_-_Women_%282008%29

+NO-ONE WAS WATCHING+
+TASTE MY SOIL+

So this is a band who has been doing some amazing work. I’ve been a fan since day one. Really good instrumental music. Defs one of my favourite bands at the moment.
But what makes this band the best, is purely the fact that they come from my own country in our mother city, Cape Town.
Bateleur is an array of brilliant musicians, thinking outside of the box in a genre that is very hard to pull off.
For the lyrics lover this band is a big no-no, but give it a try and prepare to be converted.
The video was shot in Paarl (my home town, a town right outside of Cape Town) and Oudtshoorn (a beautiful dried out landscape of a town, in the Klein Karoo). Brilliant, simplistic, visual ideas portrayed by this group.
Its hard to place the sound of this band, calling themselves Post Triassic I guess it seems quite fitting.
Happy listenings, and viewings :D
